Definition: Adapting content creatively to keep the same impact, tone, and emotion in another language.

3. Metaphrase (Literal Translation) - શબ્દશઃ અનુવાદ / શાબ્દિક અનુવાદ
Definition: Word-for-word or line-by-line literal translation.
Ex. -
1. He is a lion in war - તે યુદ્ધમાં સિંહ છે.
2. My house is near the river - મારું ઘર નદીની નજીક છે.
4. Paraphrase (Sense-for-sense Translation) - ભાવાનુવાદ / અર્થાનુવાદ
Definition: Focus on meaning rather than word-for-word translation.
Ex. -
1. He is a lion in war - તે યુદ્ધમાં અત્યંત સાહસિક છે.
2. I'll be right back - હું હમણાં જ પાછો આવીશ.
5. Imitation - અનુકરણ/અનુકાલન
Definition: Free translation with major changes to suit audience, especially in poetry.

7. Cultural Transposition - સંસ્કૃતિ બદલાવ
Definition: Adapting cultural references to make them more relatable.
Ex. -
1. They celebrated Thanksgiving with a big family dinner - તેમણે આખા પરિવાર સાથે ભોજન કરીને દિવાળીની ઉજવણી કરી.
Thanksgiving is a Western holiday unfamiliar to many Gujarati or Indian readers.
8. Polysemy - બહુઅર્થક શબ્દો
Definition: One word having multiple meanings.
Ex. -
1. Light (illumination or not heavy) - પ્રકાશ / હલકું.
2. Dizziness or circle - ચક્કર આવવું / ચક્કરાયેલું. વર્તુળ / ગોળાકાર
9. Code-Mixing/Code-Switching - ભાષા-મિશ્રણ / ભાષા-પરિવર્તન
Definition: Mixing two or more languages in conversation or writing.

Definition: The level of formality in language.

12. Tone and Mood - લેખકનો અવાજ અને વાચકની ભાવના
Definition: Tone is author's attitude; mood is reader's feeling.

13. Calque - શાબ્દિક અનુવાદ / અનુરૂપ અનુવાદ

14. Back-Translation - પાછળ અનુવાદ
Definition: Translating the translated text back to the original language to check accuracy.
Ex. -

2. I am hungry- મને ભુખ લાગી છે - હું ભૂખ્યો છું
15. Annotation / Footnote - નોંધ / ટિપ્પણી
Definition: Extra note explaining a term or reference.
Ex. -

16. Borrowing
